A woman from Embu County who had lived for months with a painful, foul-smelling wound has shared her story after finally finding relief following a herbal intervention that she says changed her life.
Speaking in a first-person account, the woman said the wound started as a small sore on her leg before growing into a large, infected opening that refused to heal despite repeated hospital visits.
“I tried everything. Antibiotics, dressings, injections, even referrals. The wound only grew bigger and the smell became unbearable,” she said. “People avoided sitting near me. I stopped going to church and social events because I was embarrassed.”
According to her, the condition began to affect her mental health, with sleepless nights and constant pain becoming part of her daily routine.
“I felt hopeless. Some days I cried because I thought I would lose my leg or even my life,” she said.
Out of desperation, she sought help from a herbal doctor in Embu after being referred by a relative. She says the approach was different from anything she had tried before, focusing on cleansing, strengthening her body, and addressing what she describes as deeper blockages affecting her healing.
“I was given herbal treatment and clear instructions. Within days, the smell reduced. The wound started drying. For the first time in months, I saw real improvement,” she said.
Over the following weeks, the wound gradually closed, the pain reduced, and her confidence returned.
“People could sit next to me again. I could walk without hiding my leg. It felt like I had been given my life back,” she said.
She believes what she went through was more than just a physical illness.
“Sometimes sickness is not just about the body. There are things medicine does not see,” she said. “What I received worked when nothing else did.”
Local residents who knew her during her struggle confirmed the dramatic change, saying the wound that once caused alarm is now almost completely healed.
The story has sparked conversation in Embu about alternative health solutions and the role of traditional herbal approaches alongside conventional care.
The woman says she now encourages others not to give up when suffering.
“I know how dark it feels when nothing works. But help exists. You just have to find what works for you,” she said.
